Matthew D. Fisher

Matt Fisher's early career provided him a 'crash course' in financial planning—literally. "I came into the industry in 2000 on an 'active trader' team for Schwab," he says. "The market hit an all-time high just as I started with Schwab, then quickly took a significant tumble—an eye-opening experience that drove home the value of diversification. I saw clients who literally had 'all their eggs in one basket,' and the concept of a diversified portfolio—a true asset allocation—resonated with me. I knew that was how I wanted to build my own practice."

As Schwab moved to business more focused on building relationships with clients, Matt relocated to St. Louis to take on a Financial Consultant role. "In 2005, I took over a practice in the Clayton branch and was tasked with developing relationships with those clients. It was incredibly satisfying and much more rewarding," he says.  But as Schwab's model became more focused on sales, Matt began looking for other opportunities. Recruited by Stone Carlie, he joined its wealth advisory department. "It seemed like the philosophy was similar to what I believed to be best for clients, and I thought I could learn from the partner who led the wealth advisory team." In the end, his goal was to build his own business.

He says the interview process at Moneta Group was the most intense he had ever experienced. "But in the end, I knew in my heart and my gut it was absolutely the right place for me and my family."

Matt attended school at the Indiana University/Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI) with a focus in Finance through the Kelly School of Business. When he moved to St. Louis from Indianapolis for the job with Schwab, he earned a degree in Finance at UM-St. Louis.

Matt has been recognized as a Five Star award winner in 2007, 2009 and 2010.

Matt and his wife, Amy, have three children; Malia, 12; Brayden, 9; and Payton, 6. In addition to spending time with his family, Matt enjoys exercising, golfing and fishing.
