Saving is just the beginning," says professional consultant Julie Sward. "You have to consider your goals and objectives at the beginning of the planning process and make certain you consider the complete picture." A good plan, she emphasizes, considers your aspirations, dreams and life-stages simultaneously. It takes a comprehensive approach. "Even the best plan must be flexible," she says. "Knowing my clients well, knowing their families and being involved in ongoing planning with them means I can help them update their plans when needed."
Prior to joining Moneta in early 2011, Julie spent 16 years in the financial services industry in a variety of roles. "I learned a lot in that time, but particularly while working as an estate planning attorney at Bryan Cave, then as a wealth management advisor at TIAA-CREF where I worked on estate plans, retirement plans, charitable giving, and investments." She enjoyed putting all the pieces of the puzzle together for clients in both roles, helping them see a complete picture of their financial lives. "The ongoing relationships I established with my clients—being there for them all along the way—was extremely satisfying. I really welcome the opportunity to build long-term relationships with clients at Moneta Group. That is one of the things that attracted me to the firm and to the Heffernan team."
Providing clients a high level of service and expertise resonates with Julie. "Everyone at Moneta has such high standards, backed up by expertise. The opportunity to work with Mark and two dedicated client service managers is exactly the right fit for me." She also enjoys working with the Investment Department. "Knowing our clients are getting advice from a team of experts is important," she says. "I like the partnerships within Moneta, knowing there is expertise on every level. That ensures the best for our clients."
Julie says Moneta's core value of putting a client's interests first attracted her from the beginning. "This is key to providing the 'Raving Fan' service they deserve," she says.
When not at work, Julie enjoys training for triathlons, traveling, home renovations and spending time with her son, family and friends.
